Protecting against Ultraviolet Light

We all know what the sun does to our skin when we don't wear U.V. protection. The sun can cause similar effects on art work that is not protected with U.V. glazing. Sun light and florescent lights cause colors to fade. Like sun tan lotion, there are glazing materials that offer U.V. filtering abilities to help prolong the life of your art work. Listed below are the most common ultraviolet filtering materials we recommend to our customers.

  • Conservation clear glass
  • Conservation Non-Glare glass
  • Ultraviolet Filtering acrylic

In most cases fading happens so slowly that you don't notice. You get use to the way it looks day after day. If you were to put the original next to it you would be able to see the damage that has occurred over time.
